[29 CFR 1926.32(f)].

The Need for Fall Protection

Hazard Analysis – workplace assessment – Recognition of hazards – Evaluation criteria – Control measures

 Fall Prevention vs. Protection

General Principles of Fall Protection – Fall clearance calculations – practice scenarios – Total fall distance calculations – Minimizing fall forces (live demonstrations)

Personal Fall Arrest Systems (Hands-on exercises) – Inspection procedures – lanyards, harness, using new and used harnesses – Donning procedures – Harness

Fit test while wearing harness – Selection, application and care of equipment

Fall Protection on Aerial Lifts and Ladders, man lifts

Rescue – Fall victim – First on the scene – Self-rescue and assisted self-rescue

Symptoms of suspension trauma – practices to avoid and actions to take in case if presents itself

Fall protection rescue procedures (Who do you call, how to handle situation according to company policy)

Fall Hazard Task Evaluation (Exercise requiring hazard analysis)

Self-Inspection (Hands-on Practicum) – Cleaning procedures

Rescue – Per Employee Handbook, self-rescue demo in classroom
